Your Club, Our Community

At Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club, we’re proud to be part of the Goulburn Valley community. As a not-for-profit organisation, we actively support local causes, community groups, and sporting clubs through sponsorships, fundraising events, and use of our facilities.

We understand the importance of giving back and regularly partner with local organisations to host charity race nights, awareness campaigns, and community days. Our club not only contributes economically by supporting local jobs and services, but also socially—bringing people together in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Supporting Local Causes

We actively host and support community events, providing opportunities for local groups to meet, raise funds, and have fun.

Key initiatives include donations to causes like the Geelong RSL ANZAC Day Appeal, with $1,000 donated in 2017 as part of Greyhound Racing Victoria’s commitment to supporting servicemen and women.

The People of Shepparton Greyhound Community

Aida Spitty

A true greyhound racing veteran with over 70 years of involvement in the sport. Her earliest memories include running her father’s dogs while riding her bike. Daughter of Hugh Emerson, a notable figure in the Geelong greyhound racing scene, commemorated with an annual race in his honour.

Sean, Nichole & Sophie Cachia

Sean’s passion for greyhounds began unexpectedly after attending a race meeting at the Meadows. From no background in the sport, Sean and Nichole are now successful breeders and trainers, with numerous wins to their credit.

Their daughter Sophie is a key part of the team, ensuring their greyhounds are happy and loved.

Murray Warre

Murray started his greyhound journey while on a health-related break from work, inspired by his neighbour, a prominent trainer.

His dog Gus, named Skye’s Apprentice, has enjoyed success on the track.
At home, Gus is a family pet first, remaining best mates with their golden retriever, Skye.
