A lot of anticipation and promise surrounds this young undefeated freak, Liddell, who returns to Sandown Park this Thursday night.
She announced herself on Sportsbet Melbourne Cup night last November. She ran 29.24 overall which is fast, a first split of 4.92 (equal fastest of 2025, with Sharapova Star) and back split of 18.52 (equal 11th fastest of 2025) – which would’ve led the Melbourne Cup until the closing stages.
She then disappeared.
“She had six chips taken out of her wrist before Christmas,” said co-trainer Dallas Massina on Australian Cup night February 28.
Unsighted until a nondescript meeting at Horsham on April 9. She won easily.
She then went to Ballarat last Wednesday and totally belted them. Despite being last to begin, in a blink of an eye she led the race and won by 9L. It was brutal.
It’s now that she returns to the big smoke of Sandown Park and we expect with an eye on the upcoming Sportsbet Sapphire Crown series – heats on Thursday May 14.
She’s in Race 2 at Sandown Park this Thursday night. It’s one of many must watch races on the card, along with Cup heats at The Bool.
